On the front page of the Athletic News, March 5th 1884, the following paragraph appeared.

"The Salford Harriers is the title of a new cross-country club about to be formed tonight at the Grapes Hotel, Cross Lane. Athletes and other desirous of supporting the new organisation are requested to meet at 19:30. The chief promoter is Mr. J.H Hardwick, and   of those who have promised to join may be mentioned, E. Kane, R. Barlow, J.W Brown, J. Wilson, J.W Roberts, C. Silcock.

133 years later, we continue to grow as a club and field a large number of teams in all major regional and national championship road and cross-country events (senior and veteran). Our runners regularly gain victories and medals whilst also giving runners of all standards the opportunity to take part and develop. We have a particularly keen interest in recruiting young people so as to continue our high standards and maintain our good name in athletics circuits for years to come.

We run a number of club sessions throughout the week across for both juniors and seniors. More information about these can be found under the training section within the junior and senior pages.
