Junior Coaches
HEAD COACH - Duncan Mason - Level 2
Duncan was one of Salford Harriers most successful ever athletes, being part of many National medal winning teams. He is also a UK Athletics Physiotherapist having treated some of Britain's most successful endurance athletes at altitude camps in Kenya and before major Championships including London 2012. He now uses his experiences to train and develop Salford Harrier's young athletes.
SENIOR COACH - Dr Ian Grime - Level 3
Originally from Oldham following a successful junior career, Ian went on to study at Loughborough University, where he was coached by the legendary George Gandy and trained with many of the countries top athletes including Paula Radcliffe. Ian went on the represent Great Britain several times at 1500m including at the World Indoor Athletics. Ian leads training from our North Manchester sessions.
COACHES
Diane Hooper - Level 2
Diane has been a competitive athlete for many years mainly at road and cross country running. She became a coach when the section first began in 2013 and has been central in leading the development the under 11 section since.
Gwyn Davies - Level 2
Gwyn also competed for Salford Harriers back in the day, including appearances in several road and cross country gold medal winning teams. He not only assists in coaching at the track but is also responsible for development of movement skills in the wider context of track and field, including jumps and hurdles.
Julie Cook - Level 2
Julie is another ex Salford Harrier A team member who was highly successful on the road and cross country winning Northern and National titles. Julie coaches from our North Manchester bases.
Kate Cammish - Level 2
Kate is yet another coach with a running background. She has been a competitive athlete from a young age where she ran regularly in English schools. Kate is very experienced in racing one of her most recent achievement being the Manchester marathon in 2016.
ASSISTANT COACHES
Matthew Hopkins - Level 1
Matthew runs regularly an competes in triathlon. He has also been heavily involved in swimming in a former life! He assists with training from the Salford training bases.
Mark Russell - Level 1
Mark also assists in training when run out of Salford. He is still a competitive athlete and triathlete recently winning the Ambleside Half marathon and completing the Ironman UK. You may see Mark at the front of sessions acting as a pacemaker.
Phil Mansfield - Level 1
Phil originally from Leeds has been working in education for the past twenty years. Got into running through his own children. Regular (slowly improving) runner. Has competed in 10km and half marathon events.
Simon Hope - Level 1
Simon was a junior runner with Salford Mets AC competing at club and county level in track and cross-country. He returned to running later and got involved with Harriers as an assistant coach when his daughter joined the U11’s group in Salford
Rob (Coach Bob) Bratt
Rob has been a Proud Salfordian all his life. He set both my girls on a journey of an active and healthy lifestyle from an early age. This following the legacy & influence of his Dad, Harold, a professional sportsman & Physical Education instructor. Rob is keen to help support the development of youth.
